Approved Digital Adviser Scheme
IntroductionThe Approved Digital Adviser Scheme is a new accreditation scheme for retail store staff developed by Digital UK, in conjunction with the Department for Business, Innovations and Skills.
The scheme has been developed following discussions with representatives of electrical retailers and representatives of consumer groups. It is designed to help support retail store staff by providing them with the information they need to answer customer questions about switchover.
Retail firms are responsible for delivering training to their staff, based on a set of standard training material. They are also responsible for demonstrating to Digital UK that they have proper staff assessments in place in order to verify that individual staff members have successfully qualified to become Digital Advisers. In most cases, this will be achieved by using the training and assessment module provided on this website.
Accredited Digital Advisers must be able to help customers with the following information:
- What switchover means to consumers
- When switchover is happening locally
- What options are available to consumers - today and following switchover
- Specific advice about equipment:
- Primary TV sets
- Secondary TV sets
- Recording equipment
- Free and pay TV options
- Reception and help with aerial upgrades
- Services designed for those people with special needs
- Where to seek further help and advice about switchover
Approved Digital Advisers are identified by the logo below which will be publicised by Digital UK in its promotions to customers. 
Digital UK will undertake compliance monitoring (e.g. mystery shopping) in order to check the quality of Digital Advisers. Retailers, who hold a Promotional Licence and can guarantee always having at least one Approved Digital Adviser available to customers in store, can apply for Approved Digital Adviser Store status for that branch.This allows them to use this logo in publicity for that shop, in accordance with the brand usage rules and guidelines. A list of all stores which have been registered via an Approved Digital Adviser licence can be viewed in the Adviser Search section.
