Welcome

Are you a retailer? Digital UK now has a site designed specifically for retailers. Access it here

The UK's TV system is going digital TV region by TV region, starting in 2008 and ending in 2012, in a process called digital switchover. This means that everyone in the UK will need to ensure that all their TVs are digital ready.

A special logo, known as the 'digital tick', has been developed as a certification mark to help consumers through switchover. Digital UK, the organisation tasked with managing and co-ordinating digital switchover, features the 'digital tick' in its marketing campaign and consumers are told to 'look for the logo' when buying digital TV equipment.

The logo is designed to:

  1. Identify digital TV products (e.g. integrated digital TV sets, digital boxes and digital television recorders/PVRs) that are designed to continue working after switchover.
  2. Identify digital TV services (e.g. Sky, Freeview, Virgin Media) that are designed to continue working after switchover.

The logo on digital TV products and services looks like this:

In addition, the 'digital tick' is used to identify stockists of digital TV products and services, and sources of reliable information about digital switchover. Stockists of digital products are identified by the following sign, which features the 'digital tick':

The Logo Do's and Don'ts will give you guidance on the purpose of the different logos that are available, who can use them and where they can and cannot be used.

If you are interested in applying for a licence to use the 'digital tick' logo (also known as the digital switchover logo), or just interested in finding out more about it, this website will provide you with everything you need.

Under the Licence information section you'll find some background on the development of the licensing arrangements and view the different licences available.

You can register for a licence in the Register and login section where a series of forms will collect the information needed about your company, retail outlets and products and guide you through the application process.

If you'd like to see what point-of-sale material is available to help promote switchover, go to the POS material section.

Once you have successfully applied for your licence, the secure members area will allow you to update your company, retail outlet or product information online; order POS Material; and access the logo artwork and guidelines.

The retailer search and equipment search sections allow you to search the database for registered retail outlets in your area and for licensed products. Using the Adviser Search section, you can also find out which retailers have joined the Approved Digital Adviser Scheme. The majority of the retail staff in these stores will have received training on switchover. You can find out more about this scheme in the Approved Digital Advisers section.
