Q: Who owns the certification mark?

A: The digital switchover certification mark is owned by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR). The BERR Secretary of State has licensed Digital UK to administer key elements of the programme on his behalf. Digital UK has appointed Momenta to act as agents on its behalf for administration of the certification mark.

Q: What is a certification mark and why have you chosen this?

A: Trademark law permits an entire industry to protect itself, by the registration of a certification mark to act as a guarantee that goods or services bearing the mark meet a certain standard or possess a particular characteristic.

Q: My company is already registered to use the 'digital tick' logo but I've forgotten my login details?

A: Go to the Digital Logo Scheme website at www.digitallogo.co.uk/register and enter the email address that you used to register your company in the 'email address' field in the Existing Users (and password reminders) section and click 'Log in'. A reminder will then be sent to you. If you continue to have problems, contact the Digital Logo Helpdesk on digital.logo@aeat.co.uk or 0870 190 2851 for assistance.

Q: How do I order branded materials to promote the certification mark scheme?

A: Individual items of POS material can be ordered by licensees. A contribution towards the cost of this material may be charged dependent upon the quantity of material that is required. To find out more or to request POS material, contact the Digital Logo Helpdesk on digital.logo@aeat.co.uk or 0870 190 2851.

Q: Is artwork available for the 'digital tick' logo?

A: Yes, the artwork for the display stickers and leaflets is available on the website for licensees to download and/or print. Brand guidelines are also available online to advise you on how to use the 'digital tick' logo in your own collateral. If you have any questions about using the artwork please let us know and we will be happy to help.

Q: Can we put our own branding on the leaflet?

A: If you want to include your own brand on information that includes the digital switchover certification mark, you may create your own collateral provided that it is in line with the terms and conditions of your licence and the brand guidelines that are available from this website.

Q: I am a registered Equipment Licensee and have just received an email from you advising that my licence is due to expire. What do I need to do to renew my licence and is there a renewal fee?

A: Please log on to the Digital Logo Scheme website at www.digitallogo.co.uk/register and go to the 'Manage Licences' section. You will then see a 'renew' button against the Equipment Licence which allows you to renew your licence online. There is no fee payable when renewing an Equipment Licence.

Q: How will compliance with the scheme rules be monitored?

A: Monitoring activities take place regularly, including mystery shopping in retail stores and checks with manufacturers on their lists of certified products. Trading Standards organisations have also been briefed on the digital switchover certification mark and the requirements of the scheme.

Q: How will you deal with non-compliance?

A: Any instances of non-compliance, such as the application of stickers by retailers to digital boxes which have not themselves been registered under the scheme, will be taken up with the management of the licensing company who will be expected to remedy the situation in line with their signed licence agreement. The licensee will need to reply to the Licence Authority within two weeks detailing the measures taken to ensure future compliance. If, after a reasonable period, the situation has not been resolved, non-compliant products may be removed from the licence agreement, or the licence terminated. In such instances, any liability arising from having misled consumers would lie with the manufacturer or retailer.

Q: I have noticed a local retailer displaying the certification mark on a product that I know is not registered, what do I do?

A: You need to email the details to the digital logo helpdesk (digital.logo@aeat.co.uk) and we will take the appropriate action. Only licensed users can use the certification mark.
